Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

You can learn and use a foreign language as a tool for the learning of a non-language subject. Important aspects of a subject are taught through a foreign language, for example aspects of Chemistry through German. Students who have experienced CLIL say that the topics are more challenging and varied. Others report a better and broader understanding of the subject. Because you are learning the subject at the same time as the foreign language and because you can relate the language class to the subject in question, students have reported that CLIL teaches relevant material. From the language point of view, students have said that CLIL increases vocabulary.
